Leisure time activities

York and the surrounding area have plenty to offer both children and adults: the historic 13th-century city centre, fantastic and fascinating museums – such as those dedicated to the Vikings – the famous York Minster, and the many national parks in the area offer something to suit every taste. And for football fans, Manchester isn’t far away – whether it’s Manchester United or Manchester City, attending a home match or taking a stadium tour is always an absolute highlight for any football fan.

Chosen highlights:
  • Castle Museum
  • Jorvik Viking Centre
  • National Railway Museum
  • Clifford's Tower
  • York Minster
Good reasons for this jouney:

Learning English in York means short distances between the city centre and the language school, with most host families (private accommodation) within walking distance, a lovely B&B for families right next to the language school, a unique British atmosphere, and easy and quick access via Manchester Airport. What’s more, York is still a real hidden gem among destinations for language courses and has few German-speaking students, making it the ideal place to learn English.
