Course overview (1)

English course for teenagers + activities – 20 lessons – Bournemouth, England

Language course class

The language courses are led by dynamic and friendly language teachers and offer a great opportunity for students to deepen their language skills. As well as improving their communication skills, every student is sure to learn new vocabulary and new grammatical nuances. Lessons at Cavendish differ from studying at home: the focus is on practical skills, and the classes are smaller than at home (Bournemouth: max. 15 pupils per class – in rare cases, this may be 16). Furthermore, the teaching methods at the Cavendish School of English prioritise making learning fun. For example, games are an excellent way of encouraging pupils to speak in a foreign language.

Leisure programme

In addition to the excellent leisure and entertainment options in Poole and Bournemouth, the Cavendish School of English offers its own extensive and interesting range of full- and half-day excursions to places of interest at very reasonable prices. This is possible because, unlike its competitors, the Cavendish School of English has a large fleet of coaches and buses at the students’ disposal. The leisure programmes are designed to give students at the Cavendish School of English an insight into the culture, customs and history of Great Britain.

Leisure programme for younger pupils

For younger pupils, the Cavendish School of English organises a comprehensive leisure programme to ensure they have plenty of fun and are well looked after at all times. Activities take place almost daily throughout the summer. In addition to the sports activities listed below, there are also entertaining activities such as LaserQuest, SplashDown, bowling and visits to a virtual reality centre, cinema trips, karaoke and disco evenings at our Cavendish Club.

Sport and leisure activities

The Cavendish School of English employs its own leisure coordinators who organise sports and leisure activities every day throughout the summer. These activities include football tournaments, beach volleyball, table tennis, as well as fun games and other sporting activities.

Accommodations (2)

Staying with a host family (aged 8–17) in Bournemouth

Study and live with an English family.

You’ll feel right at home with us.

Our welcoming and friendly host families are carefully selected and will help you get to know the local culture and customs better.

The school has many experienced accommodation coordinators who are always on hand to help with any questions or problems. When students are away from home, minor issues may arise from time to time. These can usually be resolved quickly and easily. Students also receive support from supervisors who speak several languages (German, Russian, Spanish, Polish, Italian, Chinese, Czech, Albanian) and provide a comprehensive and confidential service.

All homestay placements take place in the Bournemouth, Poole, Ferndown and Christchurch area.

Please note that during the high season, we are not always able to provide details of the host families well in advance. We aim to send you the exact addresses of the host families one week before your arrival, but we cannot guarantee this and, to be honest, we do not like to do so. There are several reasons for this, such as host families cancelling with us. Although we always book a host family as soon as a booking is confirmed, we know that host families can – and will – cancel right up until the day of arrival. If we were to inform you of your planned host family well in advance, we know you would be disappointed on arrival if you found out that your host family had changed. Unfortunately, this is very common in Bournemouth. We are therefore reluctant to provide details of the host family before arrival, and if we do, we cannot guarantee that the information will remain valid until the day of arrival. Please rest assured that on the day of arrival, you or your child will be accommodated with a host family (if booked) in the Bournemouth, Poole, Ferndown and Christchurch area. We are simply unable to tell you exactly with which host family the accommodation will be arranged. As a parent, you can view your child’s exact address by visiting the parents’ page on our website. You will be informed, either directly by us or by your agent, on how to log in.

Participants in the junior programmes receive three meals a day and are accommodated in twin rooms (unless otherwise requested). A maximum of four students are accommodated in each host family. Please note that meals begin with dinner on the day of arrival and end with breakfast on the day of departure.

Older junior students (aged 15 and over) are provided with public transport tickets. The journey time from the host family’s home to school is a maximum of 30 minutes. Younger junior students (up to 14 years old) are collected and returned up to four times a day by our own coaches and buses. For safety reasons, our buses drive as close as possible to the host family’s home.

Typical bus journeys include:

Morning collection from the host family, journey to school.

Return journey to the host family after lessons and/or the day’s programme for dinner.

Pick-up of pupils after dinner for the evening activity.

Return journey to the host family after the evening programme.

Journey times vary greatly depending on daily local traffic conditions and roadworks, and range from 15 to 45 minutes.

Autumn special: Host family, 280 EUR discount per week!!
