English Language School, Cork, Ireland
The Junior Camp is located at MTU – Munster Technological University – in the Bishoptown district, about 20 minutes from the city centre.
Our Junior Campus is situated in the lovely suburb of Bishopstown. This is a well-established south-western residential suburb of Cork, about 3 km from the city centre. The programme takes place on the campus of the renowned Munster Technological University (MTU) in a quiet suburb of Cork. The Wilton shopping centre is perfect for a spot of shopping, and there is also a lovely farm nearby which is ideal for walks.
Students stay in modern flats less than a 5-minute walk from the main campus, where our classrooms, canteen, sports facilities and much more are located. The campus is ideally tailored to the specific needs of the programme: classrooms, the canteen, sports facilities and student accommodation are all within easy walking distance. All games and activities organised by the college are conducted in English, offering students endless opportunities to put what they have learnt in class into practice.
Both the lessons and the activities are multinational, which means that students have the opportunity to make friends from all over the world, learn about different cultures and countries and, very importantly, practise their English in a social setting.
“Our new and exciting summer school curriculum is based on the four key competencies of English language learning: critical thinking, fostering independence, developing communication skills through projects, and interpersonal skills. We have chosen to partner with National Geographic, which offers a wonderful range of coursebooks. These textbooks are specifically tailored to the needs of teenagers and contain short, fast-paced activities covering reading, writing, speaking and listening. We are the only school in Ireland to use these books.” – Rob Nagle, Junior Centre Academic Manager
