English & Football: Repton School Girls’ Camp

GIRLS’ CAMP

For all football-mad girls aged 12–17, our English & Football Camp with LiverpoolFC Women is the perfect summer camp. Together with children and teenagers from all over the world, you’ll train just like the pros.
The programme covers technique, tactics, fitness and game understanding. Liverpool FC Women’s is one of the top clubs for developing young football talent, and with plenty of hard work and a bit of luck, one or two players have already made it into professional football.
At our English & Football Camp, your English skills won’t be neglected either – all our teachers are accredited by the British Council.

Players who opt for Football + English follow an English curriculum every afternoon. With a focus on spoken communication, the teachers create a lively and engaging classroom environment in which pupils build confidence in the language. Using a project-based learning approach, pupils apply their language skills in real-life football scenarios, such as interviews with coaches, debates about a ‘dream team’ and commentary on legendary LFC matches. English teachers and football coaches work closely together to ensure that what is learnt in the classroom complements what is learnt on the pitch.
Here’s how it works:
an online test is carried out before the camp to assess the pupils’ vocabulary and grammar. On arrival, the teachers speak to each student to assess their level and place them in the appropriate class. English is spoken throughout the camp, creating an intensive learning environment. At the end of each week, the teachers draw up a progress report for each pupil and give them tips on how to improve their English at home.
What’s included: Up to 13 hours of English lessons per week; a teacher-to-pupil ratio of 1:12 (on average).

THE LIVERPOOL WAY
The innovative training sessions, tailored to age and ability, include individual and group exercises, small-sided games and skill drills. The players work on the technical and tactical fundamentals of the game, with intensity
at the heart of every training session. Goalkeepers can take part in the Goalkeeping Camp from 14 July to 3 August, where they will work on their position-specific skills. At the end of the camp, each player will receive personalised feedback from their coach and an individual report to take home. All players leave the camp with a better tactical understanding of the game and know how they can improve on the pitch. They develop maturity, gain self-confidence and make friends from all over the world.

Each day’s training focuses on a different LFC player, who provides a genuine insight into what it takes to be a great player for the club. The innovative training sessions are tailored to the players’ ages and abilities and focus on individual and group exercises, small-sided games, skills drills and a weekly tournament.
At the end of the camp, each player receives personalised feedback from their coach, as well as an individual report and a certificate to take home. Players gain a better understanding of their game whilst developing independence and self-confidence in an international football environment.

THE LIVERPOOL WAY

The coaches challenge the players in high-intensity training sessions designed to improve their technical and tactical skills. Every day, they focus on position-specific playing principles, with intensity at the heart
of every session. Players also have the opportunity
to showcase their skills on the pitch in a tournament at the end of the week.
Depending on the date and location, there are two camps to choose from – Repton School, which has hosted LFC camps
for the past five years and is also the venue for the development and goalkeeping camps,
or Radley College, a beautiful venue in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, closer to London. All players leave the camp with a better understanding of how
they can improve their game and what it takes to play at the highest level.
